Let’s talk VIP groups. Maybe yours is a sale group, maybe it’s your customer group, whatever. We’re talking about closed groups on facebook that you use to advertise and sell to your customers.
When I first started selling Mary Kay, I dutifully made a private sale group called “Jackie’s Amazing Mary Kay Sale Group!” and added my customers to it as I met them (always with their permission, don’t be that person). For the first 18 months, everything was tickity-boo. I usually had a sale day once per quarter, and one for Boxing Day. I would also post any specials the company was offering. All in all, I was doing well. I was getting good sales and everyone seemed satisfied. Then, something happened…
Dun, dun DUUUUUUN!!
Ok, it wasn’t that dramatic. I think Facebook changed its algorithms. Suddenly I noticed that only 2-5 people were actually seeing my posts in the group, and my next sale was abysmal. I knew I needed to do something to change things up.
I’d been hanging out in the Socialite Suite on Facebook for a couple of months, and learning about engagement and building relationships from some of the courses offered on Sassy Suite. I decided to completely re-brand my sale group. I wanted something exclusive, something fun, something useful, and maybe some more fun. I wanted a private club where my customers and I could hang out and swap makeup tips. Kind of like the ladies’ room at a club, but with less on germs.
The Celebrity Beauty Club was born. I changed the name and the branding. I post fun and engaging things that get my celebrities laughing, talking to me, and posting their own content which also helps with engagement! I also post live facebook videos and give my celebs the inside scoop on new products, phase-outs and sales. I mean, they’re my loyal customers, they should be treated like A-list celebrities. I also invite every customer I meet through live parties, online parties and pretty much anywhere else I encounter them to my club.
The response has been fantastic. My engagement is up, my sales are up and my membership numbers are climbing organically. I don’t add anyone, every new celebrity requests to join.
I changed my mindset to truly make my VIP group all about my VIP’s.
